I et brev til president Donald Trump, datert onsdag denne uka (8. februar 2017) forlanger samtlige biskoper i Western Jurisdiction i The United Methodist Church, at arbeidet med oljeledningen stanses permanent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5472\" src=\"https:\/\/trondheimumc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/standing-rock11.jpg\" alt=\"standing-rock11\" width=\"4921\" height=\"3276\" \/>I brevet b\u00f8nnfaller biskopene president Trump og Kongressen om \u00e5 respektere Standing Rock Sioux-nasjonens rett til \u00e5 beskytte sitt hellige land og sine vannressurser. Biskopene skriver at de st\u00f8tter Standing Rock Sioux-nasjonen og alle som p\u00e5 fredelig m\u00e5te opponerer mot oljer\u00f8rledninmgen (Dakota Access Pipeline).<\/p>\n<p>Biskopene understreker at United Methodist Church legger meget stor vekt p\u00e5 \u00e5 etablere og utvikle verdige og respektfulle forhold til urbefolkninger. I uttalelsen heter det blant annet at vi som kirke fortsetter v\u00e5r &laquo;bots- og helbredelsesvandring&raquo; i forhold til urfolk.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Denne reisen gir mening utelukkende hvis den f\u00f8lges opp av handlinger i m\u00f8tet med p\u00e5g\u00e5ende undertrykkelse og urettferdighet.
